ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IN ART

JANET DONAGHEY is an exuberant and imaginative mixed media and textile artist. She has a passion for creating and believes that, “Anything is possible in art”. Her work vibrates with vivid colour and an interplay of textures. Red and pink sky reaches down to caress lime green fields and the coarseness of burlap meets the slippery smoothness of silk. Each unique piece of work is the fabric of Janet's personal approach to art.

Born in Toronto, Janet graduated from University of Toronto and York University in psychology and creative writing. She lived in Australia, travelled extensively and after being an urban dweller for many years, moved to a rural setting in the Horseshoe Valley. For several summers, Janet has attended Haliburton School of the Arts.

Janet is inspired by a host of textures and colours. She loves the beauty of crumbling stone walls and weathered wood, the dense green foliage of a rain forest and the red earth of outback Australia. At home in Ontario, Janet sees multi-hued sunsets through her kitchen window. From her studio she looks out on dense, wooded ravines and in the distance, the fields of a working farm. She continues to explore the many possibilities in art, whether it be the subject, style, colours or materials. Janet is a practicing artist, pursuing her passion.

Janet’s work has been shown in Art Walk in Victoria Harbour on Georgian Bay, the Outback Gallery in Mono Mills, The Creative Palette in Thornton, the Oro-Medonte Christmas Show, and the long-running Images Thanksgiving Studio Tour in and around Orillia and Barrie, Ontario.
